Lazio Facing Risk of Losing Zaccagni to Bitter Serie A Rivals

Lazio could potentially face the risk of losing out headline winger Mattia Zaccagni to fierce rivals Juventus amid a contractual standstill. As per Gazzetta dello Sport via LazioNews24, Bianconeri sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is monitoring the Italian’s situation at the Stadio Olimpico with bated breath.

Following a relatively sluggish start to life at Lazio upon his arrival from Hellas Verona, Zaccagni has grown to become one of Maurizio Sarri’s most trusted allies. The 28-year-old was one of the club’s best-performing players last year as Biancocelesti upset the apple cart to secure an admirable runner-up finish in Serie A.

Zaccagni tallied ten goals and seven assists across 35 league appearances for Lazio in 2022/23. He even outperformed club talisman Ciro Immobile en route to establishing himself as a permanent first-team fixture in the Italy national team. But he refused to rest on his laurels and translated his sublime to the new campaign, already making two goal contributions.

Aware of Zaccagni’s rise to stardom, Lazio are eager to reward their ace with an improved new contract. The winger’s current deal runs out in 2025, but Claudio Lotito hopes to tie him down to a long-term arrangement on boosted terms.

Unfortunately for Lazio, negotiations have already reached an impasse, opening the door for potential suitors. Juventus are among Zaccagni’s most genuine admirers. Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi remains Massimiliano Allegri’s dream signing.

If the pursuit goes sideways, the Turin powerhouse could turn their attention toward the Lazio man.
