Lazio Facing Stiff Competition to Onboard Reguilon

Lazio have opened talks with Tottenham to sign Sergio Reguilon, but they aren’t the only ones going after the fullback. Fulham and Atletico Madrid are also interested. The Biancocelesti will need to convince the player to join, as he might prefer other destinations.

As per Gianluca Di Marzio, the Cottagers have overtaken the capital side because the fullback would like to stay in Premier League. In such respect, Nottingham Forest are also keen, although the defender decided to bide time after their offer. Atletico Madrid got in touch with the Spurs as well, asking for the Spaniard on loan. He wouldn’t mind returning to his home country, Tuttomercatoweb reports.

Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri was quizzed about Reguilon in the presser before the Inter clash (via La Repubblica).

“It’s not up to me to decide which left-back to sign. It’s somebody else’s responsibility.”

Juventus could be tangentially involved in the deal as well. They inquired about the Lilywhites reject, but their focus is primarily on Renan Lodi, Calciomercato relays. Should the Colchoneros add another option in his role, they could make an offer for the Brazilian. Although, it seems unlikely they will be able to offload Alex Sandro this late in the window.

Our Take on Lazio Tracking Reguilon

It would be the cherry on top to make the lineup dangerous across all positions. Technically speaking, there’s no need to get rid of Elseid Hysaj beforehand because they would still need a backup on the right flank. But Tottenham would have to contribute heavily to his wages. Other teams joining the fray doesn’t help.
