Lazio Furious with Luis Alberto Exit Comments

Lazio playmaker Luis Alberto discussed his plans to leave Rome in the summer after receiving a lucrative bid from Qatar on Friday. The 31-year-old spoke to the press after helping Igor Tudor’s side thump Serie A basement boys Salernitana 4-1 at the Stadio Olimpico.

Alberto announced his intention to sever ties with Lazio at the end of the season. His contract at the club runs out in 2027, but he’s eager to move to Qatar in the coming months. According to Sky Italia, Alberto’s words have left the club hierarchy fuming, and he’s now at risk of a punishment.

While it’s still only a theory, Lazio reportedly consider terminating the Spaniard’s contract. That’s part of the club’s bid to facilitate his summer exit after being informed of the player’s reluctance to commit his future to Biancocelesti

New Lazio boss Tudor will not stand in Alberto’s way. He doesn’t see the former Sevilla midfielder as an indispensable first-team star and is ready to sanction his departure. Alberto would not be the only senior first-team star to wave goodbye to the Olimpico faithful this summer.

Lazio captain Ciro Immobile is close to ending his long-term association with the club after falling out of favor with the fans. Felipe Anderson is another long-serving stalwart on his way out after refusing to put pen to paper on a new deal.

As things stand, Lazio will undergo a massive squad overhaul.
