Lazio Handling Some Potentially Thorny Extension Talks

Felipe Anderson isn’t the only one waiting for a call from Lazio, as Mattia Zaccagni, Nicolò Casale, and Alessio Romagnoli are also in line for a renewal. The Brazilian will be the first to put pen to paper since his expiration date is 2024.

According to Corriere dello Sport, any day could be the right one for the announcement. The negotiation is in very advanced stages. The Brazilian winger rebuffed the Saudi advances. He earns €2.3M plus add-ons. His salary will increase to €3M.

Instead, Lazio have been in talks with Mario Giuffredi, the agent of Mattia Zaccagni, for a few weeks. He met president Claudio Lotito at their pre-season setup in Auronzo di Cadore. There’s a gap between the offer and the request. The former Verona attacker came in with affordable wages, €1.8M annually plus add-ons. The demand is €3M. His deal runs out in 2025.

Casale and Romagnoli are under contract long-term but wouldn’t mind a pay bump. Especially the latter since his wages are low relative to his importance. Instead, the ex-Milan captain was promised a touch-up if they qualified for the Champions League.

Our Take on Lazio, Zaccagni, and the Other Negotiations

The growth of a team also goes through pricey renewals. All would be deserving. It’ll be interesting to see whether the front office will comply or make tough decisions to keep the payroll in check instead.
