Lazio are pursuing Real Madrid prospect Mario Gila. The center-back has spent the early stages of his career at the Castilla, with which he has collected 75 appearances. The Biancocelesti are nearing an agreement on a loan with option to buy, Alfredo Pedullà informs.
The 21-year-old debuted with Los Merengues against Espanyol and logged some minutes also versus Levante. The capital side was said to be tracking Victor Chust but have decided to go for his less-established teammate.
The sudden attempt by Lazio for Gila might stem from Monza making a strong move for Nicolò Casale. According to Sky, the Brianzoli have sanctioned a deal with Verona for €7/8M. It is up to the player to decide whether to join or wait for other clubs. Napoli are on his trail as well. The Scaligeri prefer to complete the deal by June 30th for financial reasons.
Maurizio Sarri commented on the transfer market to Rai.
“Marcos Antonio is a young guy, and we had the chance to sign him unfortunately partly due to very unpleasant situations. We had an older player on an expiring contract in that role. He will have to adjust, but we will gladly wait for him. Despite his age, he has already played in the Champions League for two years. I think he will be useful. As for Marco Carnesecchi, the directors have to make the call. We will see whom they will they choose on goal. I have already told them what I needed to say.”
Our Take on Lazio Eyeing Gila
The Biancocelesti have long been hung up on Alessio Romagnoli, but they need a right-footed defender too since Luiz Felipe is gone. Patric is shaky, so they have to sign a day-one starter. The youngster has potential, but it would be a gamble.
