Lazio in Talks with Cremonese Fullback for Future Move

Emanuele Valeri stayed put at Cremonese this summer despite receiving a few offers and has his heart set on joining his boyhood club Lazio on a free transfer. He has been frozen out because of the situation. His contract runs out in 2024.

According to Corriere dello Sport, there’s already an agreement in principle between the parties for a Bosman transfer. However, if the conditions were particularly favorable, the Biancocelesti could bring in the fullback in January already.

Lazio will evaluate the performances of their current contributors before making the call on when to pounce on Valeri. They reunited with Luca Pellegrini this summer. He joined from Juventus on a two-year loan with an obligation to buy.

Elseid Hysaj and Adam Marusic can play on the left flank too. Both are under contract only until 2025. The Serb drew interest from Saudi Arabia last summer. Manuel Lazzari stars on the right one when they want to be more offensive-minded. He’s tied to the team until 2027.

The Grigiorossi stalwart recorded 2 goals and 3 assists in 37 appearances in his first and only Serie A season in 2022/2023.

Our Take on Lazio and Valeri

He was fully deserving to return to the top flight following the relegation, but this is likely the reason why it didn’t happen. Replacing one of their veterans with him would be a good piece of business.
