Lazio in the Hunt for a Few Midfield Reinforcements

Lazio will look to shore up their midfield next summer, where most of their plans will hinge on the permanence of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. The Serbian ace seems inclined to leave regardless of the Champions League qualification, but the team will try to change his mind.

Per Alfredo Pedullà, Piotr Zielinski will be a realistic target only if his price tag is below €25M, which is a stretch. Maurizio Sarri asked to prioritize players familiar with Serie A. Though, they might make an exception for somebody with potential.

Lazio are scouting two names in particular: Benfica’s Gedson Fernandes and Frosinone’s Daniel Boloca. The former had a seesawing career after breaking out at a young age with Benfica. He’s currently at Besiktas. The latter is one of the main engines of the Ciociari, which are close to clinching their return to the Italian top flight. Both can star either as a regista or as a box-to-box.

The Biancocelesti also have a few Italian footballers in their crosshairs. According to ReteSport, they are interested in contracting Roberto Gagliardini, who will leave Inter on a free. In addition, Manolo Gabbiadini is an option to address their long-standing need for a Ciro Immobile deputy.

According to Il Messaggero (via Fantacalcio), Lazio are eyeing Empoli’s touted duo Jacopo Fazzini and Tommaso Baldanzi. The trequartista will have many suitors next summer. They will attempt to beat the competition and convince the Azzurri by inserting Jean-Daniel Akpa-Akpro in the package. He has been a regular and a good contributor while on loan in Tuscany this season.
