The window is over but teams can still bring in free agents, provided they have room on their lists or just cut somebody. Lazio reportedly have Yusuf Yazici in their crosshairs, who hasn’t found a team yet after leaving Lille, L’Equipe reports (via Fantacalcio).
The midfielder was linked to Milan early in the summer given his ties with Paulo Fonseca. The Biancocelesti tried to sign a man in the role, Michael Folorunsho, until the last moment but came up empty-handed. They parted ways with Danilo Cataldi late.
On the other hand, Lazio would have to exclude one of the players under contract to make space for Yazici. They got away with it in the early going by temporarily omitting Mario Gila because he was hurt. Elseid Hysaj or Pedro will be the odd man out once he returns.
The departure of Cataldi didn’t open up a spot because he was a home-grown product. Folorunsho was too, even though he never wore their colors. The 27-year-old recorded 12 goals and 4 assists in 42 matches across all competitions in the past campaign following a loan spell at Trabzonspor. He has 45 caps with Turkey.
Our Take on Lazio and Yazici
Milan could actually use him too since they don’t have a proper deputy for Ruben Loftus-Cheek, but they face the same limitation. Instead, the Biancocelesti would need a midfielder with a more defensive skillset after Cataldi’s exit, but it’d un-Claud Lotito-like to pay a few players just to sit on the stands. They’ll probably just make do with what they have.
