Lazio Join Race to Sign In-Demand Tete

Lazio have reportedly entered the race to sign outgoing Shakhtar Donetsk winger Tete, who could be available on a free transfer. According to Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), the Biancocelesti will rival several Premier League clubs for the versatile forward’s signature.

Maurizio Sarri is in the market for a new winger. After placing a watchful eye on Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi and Bologna’s Riccardo Orsolini, the experienced manager has a new target. Both Italians would require Lazio to part with a sizeable amount of money, something Claudio Lotito isn’t overly enthusiastic about.

On the other hand, Tete’s arrival won’t cost a dime. Though his contract at Shakhtar runs out in December, the Brazilian can terminate his association with the Ukrainian powerhouse in the coming days. FIFA’s new regulations allow all foreigners to suspend their deals due to war. And Lazio are aware of the situation.

Tete spent the second half of last season on loan at Leicester City. But after they suffered relegation to the Championship, his stay at the King Power Stadium was impossible. Everton and Celtic are interested in luring the 23-year-old back to the United Kingdom. Yet, Lazio aren’t scared.

Sarri’s men are willing to challenge the islanders for Tete. Napoli are also in the mix as Hirving Lozano’s future in south Italy hangs by a thread. In addition to the Partenopei and Lazio, Fiorentina are giving serious thought to the prospect of approaching the in-demand Shakhtar prospect.
