Lazio List Sassuolo Striker to Address Glaring Need

Lazio intend to bring in a young center-forward that could alternate with Ciro Immobile next season, and Andrea Pinamonti has emerged as a possible candidate for the job. The Biancocelesti have gained an edge over a few opponents in the Champions League race. They will have to make their squad deeper if they qualify.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Maurizio Sarri wants a co-starter rather than a deputy. Preferably, a player with potential who is already familiar with Serie A. The Sassuolo starlet fits the bill, but his sizeable price tag could hinder the prospective deal.

The center-forward joined the Neroverdi on a season-long loan with a €20M obligation to buy from Inter. The conditions to make the transfer permanent have been met. Lazio would have to throw in a few more million to convince Sassuolo to sell Pinamonti just a year after his arrival. In addition, the Nerazzurri have some say in the matter through a gentleman’s agreement, even though they don’t hold an official buy-back clause.

The capital side have two other options on their radar: Freiburg’s Roland Sallai and Club Brugge’s Ferran Jutglà, although they don’t completely correspond to what the coach demands. They probed the alternatives with their respective entourages and clubs. They are rated €15/20M.

Our Take on Lazio and Pinamonti

It’s time for them to finally address the position, but the youngster hasn’t been great this season and could use more seasoning before jumping to a big team with a meaningful role. He’s pricey and pretty different in terms of skillset. If he doesn’t get too expensive, Mateo Retegui would be a more logical and interesting purchase.
