As per Corriere dello Sport, the gaffer has routinely asked for a specialist that is as offensive-minded as Manuel Lazzari on the opposite flank. Adam Marusic has been solid, but he’s right-footed and not very proactive.
The capital side has other names on their shortlist, such as Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schulz, AZ Alkmaar’s Milos Kerkez, and Cremonese’s Emanuele Valeri. Among them, the Lazio boss prefers Pellegrini. The two briefly worked together in the summer of 2019 in Turin before the defender temporarily moved to Cagliari.

The fullback joined Eintracht Frankfurt on a simple loan, so another transfer wouldn’t be too difficult to arrange if necessary. He’s passable, but there’s a gulf between him and Empoli’s standout. He might be one to watch for Juventus as well. They would need a Filip Kostic backup if Alex Sandro kept playing as a center-back. Lazio could easily stick it out with Marusic before opening up resources for a better weapon in the summer.
