Lazio defender Denis Vavro has said that he intends to leave the club in January.

The Slovak defender has made only 19 appearances for the Biancocelesti since joining them from Copenhagen in 2019. This season, Vavro has not featured in a single game under Maurizio Sarri .

The 25-year-old said that he wants to leave Lazio in January in search of more game time. In an interview with Sport.sk, Vavro said: “I’ll tell you, I’m physically ready because I usually train with the team, but I’m not well from a psychological point of view.

“After all, the last time I played a 90-minute game was in June with Slovakia in preparation for the European Championship match against Bulgaria. I admit that I have a lot of thoughts in my head. However, I believe it will all work out in the end. I definitely want to leave Rome in January. This is not a place for me, I can’t stay where I can only train without ever being able to play.”

Vavro is yet to play a minute for Lazio and it is fair to assume that his chances of getting a healthy amount of game time are very low. A move away from Rome would do well for the Slovak centre-back and it will be interesting to see whether the Biancocelesti sells/loan him or not.
