Lazio Player Ratings vs Celtic: Pedro Saves the Biancocelesti Day

Lazio travelled to Scotland to face Celtic as their Champions League campaign continued. Having lost at the weekend away to Milan Maurizio Sarri made a few tweaks to his starting 11. Our match report on events in Glasgow is here. The game was evenly balanced for most of the evening but Pedro saved the day at the death. Here’s how the Biancocelesti performed at Parkhead against the Hoops:

Ivan Provedel – 6

The Lazio keeper let the first goal squirm underneath him and probably should have kept it out. Was caught between coming and going for one on ones once or twice but saved well from a free kick. Confident with feet.

Manuel Lazzari – 5.5

Was a bit negligent defensively. Palma’s offside goal saw the attacker on his flank unmarked with his back turned. Did his fair share of running and latched onto anything loose.

Alessio Romagnoli – 6

Didn’t seem alert for the goal but his header went down as an assist and he saved his side with a fantastic goal-saving tackle on Luis Palma with ten minutes left.

Patric – 6

Patric set up Felipe Anderson for the first chance of the evening and intercepted anything with very impressive reading of the play. Was given the armband when Ciro Immobile went off.

Elseid Hysaj – 5.5

Hysaj was quiet this evening. He wasn’t overwhelmed on the wing and made a few dashes forward. Dealt with most challenges well but Maeda got the the better of him sometimes.

Daichi Kamada – 5

Spread the play out well tuning out and bringing the wingers into the game. Should have done better on a few occasions with opportunities he was presented with. Ran half the pitch and got a good shot away at Joe Hart. Positive but was going through the motions.

Matias Vecino – 7.5

Vecino was voted man of the Match. He made himself a nuisance in the box for his goal and was not afraid of getting physical in the midfield.

Luis Alberto – 7.5

Was giving Anderson great service out wide with cross field passes. He looked in the mood tonight but Sarri subbed him off after he was booked. Any threat came through him.

Ciro Immobile – 5

Was given no service this evening and will be annoyed he didn’t get to show himself at his best. Celtic’s period of dominance made it difficult for him to make an impact.

Felipe Anderson – 4.5

Anderson was given lovely service to work with by Alberto but you can’t help but feel he didn’t use them to the best of his abilities. Wasn’t clinical enough. He’s been blowing hot and cold this season.

Mattia Zaccagni – 5

Won a few fouls but overall was a bit disappointing. Didn’t inject much energy into the attacking line and was crowded out by the back line.

Substitutes:

Pedro – 7

Showed his quality and stepped up when it was needed most. Could be a very important goal in the group. Saved the day.

Matteo Guendouzi – 6.5

Took up well from Alberto and earned an assist with his deep cross to set up Pedro. Nicely done.

Gustav Isaksen – 4.5

Was involved in the build up to the goal but otherwise creates no spark.

Taty Castellanos – 5

Suffered much the same faith as Immobile. Tried another bicycle kick, ended up in the referee’s book.

Adam Marusic- N/A
