Lazio Player Ratings vs Milan: Aquile Fall to Yet Another Defeat

Lazio fell to yet another defeat today at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza to ensure their woeful start to the season continues. Maurizio Sarri gave new recruit Taty Castellanos his first start in hopes of freshening up his attack and mixed up the midfield with Matteo Guendouzi present from the first minute. It didn’t help his team make an impact as Lazio fell short again this evening. Here’s how the players ranked from 1-10. You can find our match report here

Ivan Provedel – 6

The first half was quiet enough for Provedel and he made his usual stops as he got down well on a few occasions especially from Giroud’s shot in the first half even if the rebound got messy. The first goal was from very close range and it’s difficult to know if he could have kept it out.

Adam Marusic – 4.5

Marusic came under pressure from Rafael Leao all evening  on his wing and couldn’t stop him passing by especially in the second half. Was missing in action for the second goal. got booked and his defensive duties denied him any chance to get forward.

Nicolo Casale – 4

The Milan attack completely overran the Lazio defence in the second half and Casale was pulled about by Leao and friends. Sold himself on the second goal sliding in way too early when he should have stayed on his feet.

Alessio Romagnoli – 5

The ex-Milan man was himself for most of the game but he didn’t stay with Okafor for the second goal as he watched him slot past him standing on the goal line. His leadership was obviously missing for the back four as Milan rained down on them.

Elseid Hysaj – 5

Hysaj stopped Pulisic’s advances in the first half but looked to grow tired and couldn’t keep up as the game wore on. As with Marusic no attacking was possible.

Matteo Guendouzi – 5.5

A lot of Lazio’s positive play came through him in the first half and he couldn’t be faulted for the wasted oppurtunities, but when Milan took control he was powerless to stop it passing him by.

Nicolo Rovella – 5

Mixed the bad with good in the middle some nice passes some disappointing. Helped clear up a bit but perhaps Cataldi should have started.

Luis Alberto – 5.5

Not up to his usual standards tonight and didn’t receive the ball from his midfield comrades to create openings or chances. This led to a lack of clear cut opportunities. His wild shot off target was a symptom of his play.

Felipe Anderson – 5

Drifted to Zaccagni’s wing found himself on the ball and really should have scored early on but could only find the side netting with his left foot. Ended up helping Marusic at the back often in the second and was taken off with 15 minutes left after running out of ideas

Taty Castellanos – 6

Castellanos offered something different to Ciro Immobile but couldn’t make it happen. Two shots on target and moved well but If you don’t take you’re chances though the other team will and that’s what happened.

Mattia Zaccagni – 5

He really disappointed today and lacked his usual runs and crosses. Didn’t see much of the ball and when he did was ineffective.

Substitutes:

Matias Vecino – 5.5

Vecino couldn’t stop the rot and was thrown into the thick of it as Milan dominated. Can’t jump-start the midfield.

Daichi Kamada – 4.5

Kamada came on with just over 20 minutes left but didn’t change the mood in midfield at all. Looked for the ball but tended to go bakcwards too often.

Pedro – 6

Thought he’d scored a wonderful goal in the 4th minute of injury time, curling past Mike Maignan into the top corner but was ruled out when Immobile was spotted past last man. Unlucky.

Ciro Immobile – N/A

Gustav Isaksen – N/A
