Lazio Player Ratings vs Roma: Derby Stalemate

The Derby della Capitale took place at the Stadio Olimpico this evening. After both sets of Ultras showed off their Tifos in the stands Jose Mourinho’s Roma side took on Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio. Both sides battled over the 90 minutes but neither could find the magic touch to get all three points. This Derby stalemate is a frustrating result for both sides who remain separated by one point but still well outside the Champions League spots. After their 1-0 win at the same venue during the week Sarri mixed things up a bit in the midfield. Here’s how his squad got on in this Derby stalemate.

Ivan Provedel – 6

Slightly shaky with the ball at his feet in the opening minutes but remained solid. Didn’t come under much pressure from the Giallorossi attack.

Manuel Lazzari – 6.5

Played as mostly a winger nevermind a wing-back during the first half. As the game wore on he became more involved defensively. Managed to shield the ball out if his own box and then explode down the wing.

Patric – 7

Remained calm even when the defence came under big pressure in the second period. Becoming one of Sarri’s most trusted defenders. Got hands-on with Lukaku to keep him under wraps. Focused.

Alessio Romagnoli – 6

Once or twice the centre-half was caught being too casual at the back by Paolo Dybala. Forced a great save from Rui Patricio after losing his marker for a free kick. Kept the backline in order when the Roma waves battered the defence.

Adam Marusic – 5.5

Wasn’t aware of Karsdorp lurking over his shoulder but got away with it. Loose passes the only problem when he was more alert during the second 45.

Matteo Guendouzi – 6.5

Worked hard off the ball and when it was a his feet he was smart enough to release Luis Alberto. A big fan of drifting out right to combine with Lazzari. Filtered ball through to Immobile late on to give him a great chance. Got down to work as others around him fatigued to set the tempo.

Danilo Cataldi – 6

Quiet throughout the opening 45. A little bit careless with possession. But was assured without sparkling. Hard working performance.

Luis Alberto – 6

Bryan Cristante tried to keep him under lock and key but the Spaniard still managed to hit the post with a fantastic shot from outside Roma’s 18 yard box. Should’ve put the Biancocelesti ahead just before half-time but fired over. Got booked and will miss the game against Salernitana after the break. Might not do him any harm as he looks tired.

Felipe Anderson – 5.5

Mixed the bad with good. Overshadowed by Lazzari on his wing. His touch was heavy and he lacked the explosive moments to make headway. Despite this he tracked back with good success. Would’ve liked to affect the outcome more directly.

Ciro Immobile – 6

Carried the ball forward throughout the evening. The striker developed a battle with Gianluca Mancini but couldn’t get the best of him. His best chance went begging as the Roma captain muscled him off the ball.

Pedro – 5

One of very few players to turn out for both sided in this derby. Dropped very deep allowing Marusic to drive on. Unfortunately most attempts to start up attacks from there didn’t come off. Gave his best but it didn’t change the scoreline in this Derby stalemate.

Substitutes:

Matias Vecino – N/A

Gustav Isaksen – 6.5

His first appearance in a few weeks. Involved in a lot of build up play and dug out crosses. Probably his most encouraging cameo off the bench so far. Confident with the ball.

Nicolo Rovella – 5.5

Had to replace Vecino when he got injured 10 minutes after coming in. Solid enough with several challenges and interceptions.

Elseid Hysaj – N/A

Daichi Kamada – N/A
