Lazio and Juventus have defined a double deal involving Nicolo Rovella and Luka Pellegrini. Both players will switch to the Stadio Olimpico on loan with a mandatory buyout option. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, today’s negotiations bore fruits, with the duo expected to fly to Rome for medicals.
Rovella and Pellegrini will set Lazio back for a combined €21 million. While the former will cost the Biancocelesti as much as €17m, the latter will arrive for a mere €4m. The Italian left-back is no stranger to the Olimpico, having spent the second half of last season on loan in Rome.
As a die-hard Lazio fan, the 24-year-old has been determined to make his temporary stay in the capital stick. Despite generating interest from several foreign clubs, Pellegrini has never had a doubt. A reunion with Maurizio Sarri has been at the forefront of his mind.
Meanwhile, Rovella spent last season on loan at Monza. But despite enjoying a decent season in Serie A, his future at Juventus was sealed long ago. Despite splashing out €26m to purchase him from Genoa in 2021, Massimiliano Allegri has banished the 21-year-old from the squad.
Lazio have spotted the opportunity. Claudio Lotito has moved quickly to seize the chance and secure a much-needed midfield reinforcement. Sarri has been in the market for a new midfielder since reluctantly sanctioning Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s move to Al-Hilal.
But after missing out on Piotr Zielinski’s signature, Lazio have had to change the course, hence Rovella’s arrival.
