Lazio Set Sights on Napoli Outcast

Napoli’s Gianluca Gaetano has emerged as one of the most in-demand Serie A players, with Lazio becoming the latest team to set sights on the wantaway Partenopei midfielder. According to Radio Kiss Kiss director Valter De Maggio (via LazioSpace X account), new Biancocelseti boss Marco Baroni is a keen admirer of the 24-year-old and wants to bring him to Rome.

Last season’s Serie A strugglers Cagliari and newly-promoted Parma are already tussling for Gaetano’s services. However, undeterred by the duo’s ongoing pursuit of the versatile midfielder, Lazio are considering launching an offer for the Napoli homegrown star.

Since Geatano’s chances of landing regular first-team football under Antonio Conte are nearly dead in the water, Lazio hope to seal a deal on favorable terms. The player, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Cagliari, is reportedly pushing for an exit.

He should be available for a relatively affordable figure as Lazio president Claudio Lotito seems relentless at the start of the summer. The charismatic club president has already signed the likes of Tijjani Noslin, Loum Tchaouna, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and most recently, Nuno Tavares.

The latter has joined Lazio from Arsenal on a season-long loan. Gaetano could be next in line. The Italian impressed under Claudio Ranieri’s guidance last season, netting four goals and delivering one assist in 11 appearances for Cagliari. But the Sardinians failed to make his move permanent. Despite joining Napoli’s pre-season training camp, he’ll soon leave again.
