Lazio Sketch Summer Transfer for Sassuolo Ace Berardi

Lazio are keenly monitoring Sassuolo ace Domenico Berardi for a move this summer as the Biancocelesti prepare to star in the UEFA Champions League next season. He has long been held in high regard by coach Maurizio Sarri, who is gradually building a legacy at the Stadio Olimpico.

According to Calciomercato, Berardi wants to get out of his comfort zone having spent all his life serving the Neroverdi colors. The 29-year-old attacker is an icon at the Mapei Stadium, but club chief Giovanni Carnevali is willing to hear offers for him. Anything around the €35-40M mark is bound to rouse the club.

No official moves have been made by Lazio yet, but it is no secret that Berardi is admired by the Biancocelesti management. The ball is reportedly in president Claudi Lotito’s court, and it remains to be seen if sporting director Igli Tare will be given the green light to open talks with counterpart Giovanni Rossi at the other end. A swap deal involving 21-year-old Matteo Cancellieri is rumored to benefit both parties.

Berardi has 129 goals in 346 appearances for Sassuolo in his career, playing a key role in the rise of the Reggio outfit from Serie B and into one of the top flight’s dark horses.
