Luis Alberto was quick to silence the rumors about his January departure from Lazio, but that does not necessarily mean that he is in for the long haul. The midfielder made it clear that he wants to return to Spain in the not-so-distant future in an interview.
The star talked with journalist Gerard Romero on Twitch channel Jijantes: “I have three years left on my contract. I do not know whether they will push me out next summer and ship me to Sevilla. Jokes aside, it is true that I would like to go back to Spain. We will see whether it could happen soon. My wish is to do it while I am still fit and can enjoy life.”
Luis Alberto did not provide many hints about what his next stop after Lazio could be: “Sevilla is not the only option. There are many possibilities, and I wish to fully relish La Liga, something I have not been able to do so far. I want to return while still playing at a good level. I am 29, and if they do not allow me to leave, I would have to look for other solutions.”
“I have gotten used to the debate around me at this point. There have indeed been some disagreements within the club, and the first few months have not been good. However, in the end, we reached an understanding for the good of the group. We have comprehended the coach’s demands, we are having fun, plus the good results help.”
Luis Alberto is fond of his time at Lazio: “I have been here for six years, and this has become a home and a family to me. Rome reminds me of Sevilla in terms of passion, although the rivalry is more aggressive here.”
