Lazio Talent Romero Set to Depart on Bosman Transfer

Lazio talent Luka Romero is set to leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires. The Argentine winger and his representatives have long quarreled with the club regarding commissions from a  potential new deal, which now looks unlikely as the end of the season approaches. Moreover, Sarri has used the attacker rarely in his breakthrough campaign.

As per Calciomercato, Romero is unlikely to continue his stint with the Biancocelesti, with an agreement now seeming far-fetched. Lazio have reportedly put forth a new three-year deal, but there are discrepancies arising with the player’s agent Fali Ramadani, who has demanded €5M in compensation fees.

The 18-year-old is part of Argentina’s squad for the U20 FIFA World Cup, which begins in a fortnight. Romero will replace Facundo Buanonotte in the national side, which is led by former Liverpool and Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano. He is not expected to return to train with Lazio ahead of the new season once the international tournament finishes, with his free agency perhaps drawing the attention of other clubs in Europe.

Sitting third, Lazio are enroute to finishing in the top four with just four matches remaining, although the 2-0 defeat against Milan dents their hopes of doing so, as there is just an eight-point difference between teams from second (Juventus) to seventh (Roma).
