Lazio Target Milan Defender, To-Be Free Agent

Lazio are eyeing a move for Milan defender and captain Alessio Romagnoli on a free transfer, according to reports from Italian outlet SportMediaSet (via MilanLive). The Rossoneri captain has fallen behind young talent Fikayo Tomori and Danish stopper Simon Kjaer in Stefano Pioli’s pecking order.

No talks of renewal has emerged at the club and Milan have been passive when it comes to building talks with him for an extension.

The Biancocelesti are frontrunners for his signature when the 26-year-old’s contract in Milan expires in June 2022, at the end of the current season, according to the reports emerging from Italy.

However, a problem arises when considering his wage demands as he is currently a high-profile earner with the Rossoneri – at €6m net per year.

Lazio would not be able to accommodate such requests but remain calm knowing that Romagnoli must sacrifice his high demands if he wishes to continue playing in Serie A and garner constant playing minutes.
