Alessio Romagnoli is set to leave Milan and, while he has been heavily linked to Lazio, Fiorentina also expressed their interest. The 27-year-old center-back, who began his senior career with a stint at Roma, has grown up supporting the Biancocelesti throughout his childhood.
Negotiations with Lazio are moving forward at a snail’s pace, allowing new suitors to emerge. La Nazione (via Tuttomercatoweb) reports of Fiorentina’s burgeoning interest in the Milan captain, who has so far been in limbo with the Rossoneri management regarding a renewal deal. His contract expires at the end of June, before which interested clubs will have to make a move, keeping in mind a free transfer.
Lazio have offered €2.8M net per season plus bonuses for the defender’s services, but he expects nothing less than €3M to join, and it is unclear if Fiorentina could propose that much. However, it is understood that their management regards the Serie A winner highly.
