Lazio to Target Zielinski to Replace Milinkovic-Savic

Lazio quickly rekindled their interest in Piotr Zielinski as Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is highly likely to transfer to Saudi Arabia. Napoli’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis had strong words toward players entering the final year of their contracts.

Per Alfredo Pedullà, the Partenopei asked the Pole to reduce his €3.5M salary to re-up. He refused and is de facto for sale. The Biancocelesti inquired a week ago. The request is €25M plus €5M add-ons.

Lazio have an inferior valuation for Zielinski, but they could come close thanks to the Milinkovic-Savic windfall. The 29-year-old would reunite with Maurizio Sarri.

Claudio Lotito dished on the departure of the Serb to Tag24.

“I haven’t signed anything, so it’s not all done yet. I have been told that the offer is very sizeable for the player and a little less for the team. He asked me to leave since he has been here for eight years. There are no problems with the management nor monetary ones.”

“I don’t know if it’s a matter of motivation. If somebody goes to Saudi Arabia, money is the driving factor. But you’d have to ask him. I’ve tried to keep ahold of him until the last second, but there’s nothing I can do if somebody asks out. I have a nice relationship with him, but ultimately footballers decide what to do with their lives.”
