Lazio put an end to their four-match winless run and could not have found a better game to do so. The Biancocelesti beat arch-rivals Roma 3-2 in what was quite an eventful Derby della Capitale.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic put Maurizio Sarri’s side ahead after just ten minutes before former Giallorossi player Pedro doubled the lead. Roma tried hard to find the net and did so shortly before half-time thanks to Roger Ibanez.
Both sides were eager to score in the second half but it was Lazio who found the net thanks to Felipe Anderson. Roma later pulled one back thanks to Jordan Veretout’s penalty. However, they were able to get an equalizer despite trying really hard and the match finished 3-2 to Lazio.

The Lazio XI had three changes from their 1-1 draw against Torino as Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Lucas Leiva and Pedro were starting while Danilo Cataldi, Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro and Raul Moro were benched.
Roma were without their captain Lorenzo Pellegrini who will be missing the game after being sent-off against Udinese. Henrikh Mkhitaryan started in his place while Stephan El Shaarawy was replaced by Eldor Shomurodov. Left-back Matias Vina was back after missing the last two games due to an injury.

Lazio opened the scoring in the tenth minute after Milinkovic-Savic met Anderson’s fine cross with an accurate header. The Serb hurt himself in the process as he collided with Roma keeper Rui Patricio but was soon back on his feet.
Lazio doubled their lead in the 19th minute thanks to former Roma player Pedro who netted his first goal for the Biancocelesti. The Spaniard became only the third player to score for both teams in the Rome Derby after Arne Selmosson and Aleksandar Kolarov.
Roma tried to find the net and came very close after Nicolo Zaniolo’s header from Jordan Veretout’s corner hit the post. Lazio were making things difficult for their opponents and Ciro Immobile came close to making it 3-0 but his shot hit the side netting.
Roma halved the deficit thanks to Roger Ibanez who scored his first goal of the season after heading in from Veretout’s corner.

Immobile had a good chance to extend Lazio’s lead early in the second half but his shot was wide. Roma persistently tried to find a net and got a few corners but were unable to find their equalizer.
Immobile made a fine run forward and after dribbling past a few players, he passed the ball to Anderson who found the net to restore his team’s two-goal lead.
Roma got a penalty after Zaniolo was fouled by Francesco Acerbi and Veretout scored from the spot to reduce the deficit. The Giallorossi’s morale was lifted with the goal and they tried to find an equalizer with Zaniolo forcing Pepe Reina to make a fine save.
Lazio had a few chances to make it 4-2 but were unable to make the most out of them. Things got a little heated during the 86th minute and the referee was forced to book Cataldi and Veretout.
In the end, the scoreline remained 3-2 and Lazio gained all three points in what was a pretty exciting Derby della Capitale.
