Lazio Join Hunt for Highly-Rated Barcelona Teenager

Shortly after adding Barcelona teenager Vitor Roque to their list of targets, Lazio are preparing an official bid for the Brazilian forward. According to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, the Italians are ready to lodge a loan offer for the 19-year-old with an option to buy worth around €25 million.
Vitor Roque’s future at Barcelona is hanging by a thread. Despite joining the club last January, the ex-Athletico Paranaense starlet could pack his bags this summer. He’s been part of Las Blaugranas’ pre-season camp under new manager Hansi Flick, yet his chances of staying at Camp Nou beyond the summer are slim.
Lazio have recently joined fellow Serie A rivals Napoli and Fiorentina in the race to land Vitor Roque. But after losing Ciro Immobile to Besiktas, club president Claudio Lotito can’t afford to lose more time. New boss Marco Baroni already lost the likes of Luis Alberto and Felipe Anderson earlier this summer.
Mason Greenwood had been the club’s first choice until not long ago. However, Lazio seem destined to lose the Manchester United outcast to Olympique Marseille. With the Englishman set to join the Ligue 1 giants, Baroni’s men have switched their attention to Vitor Roque.
Barcelona parted with north of €40 million to acquire the Brazilian talent last winter. But they can’t realistically hope to recoup their investment following the youngster’s troubled start to life in La Liga. Lazio will only move forward if the Catalans reconcile with a substantial capital loss.
