Rafael Leao revisited his new long-term contract with Milan, addressed his new teammates, and set his objectives for the upcoming season in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“It was an act of love. I had made up my mind after after extensively thinking about it. It was just a matter of timing. Before putting pen to paper, I wanted to reach the Champions League final, but we didn’t manage. I’ve signed for the next five years, which means that I want to stay here. The project is very important. There are many youngsters. The most important thing is that I can continue growing to achieve my goal: winning a lot.”
Leao has switched to no.10.
“I’m proud of it, and it’ll be even nicer to play in San Siro with such a number. I like 7 too, but it belongs to Yacine Adli. I didn’t know whether Brahim Diaz would leave. When I heard he was returning to Real Madrid, I asked the management for it.”
Leao assessed Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
“The former is a strong player and can make the difference on either wing. The latter is powerful and can hold the ball. He’ll push the team from one end to the other. Nobody is like him in Serie A. Tijjani Reijnders shoots and passes well. He’ll be important to have possession.”
