The sub-par performance arrives as a blow just days before the Rossoneri travel to Spurs to defend their 1-0 aggregate lead, but Fabio Capello believes one man can make the difference – Rafael Leao.
Speaking to Sky Sport (via MilanNews), the former Milan coach reserved words of praise for the Portuguese winger, who he likens to Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe.
“He can decide the match at any moment with a goal or with an assist. Another important thing: he worries the opponents. He’s one of the few players in Europe today who goes away easily in one-on-one situations. He’s like Mbappe in terms of acceleration and speed.”
However, Capello also warned Leao to carry out his defensive duties.
“Sometimes he’s not careful, he chases after his opponent without wanting to recover.”
Leao has 9 goals and 10 assists in 32 appearances for Milan this season. He needs five more goals to match his best goalscoring record in a season for the Rossoneri.
