Leão on Emphatic Napoli Win, Champions League and Kvara

Milan thumped Napoli in impressive fashion to make a statement just a week before the showdown clash against the Partenopei in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. Rafael Leão was scintillating on the night, scoring two top-class goals on either side of half-time to help the Rossoneri muster a 4-0 victory.

The Portuguese starlet spoke to DAZN (via MilanNews) in his post-match interview and reflected upon the important win that keeps them on Lazio’s trail for second place.

“I knew it was an important match against a great opponent. We listened to a few words from outside which gave us more energy. I want to thank our fans and my team because we played an incredible game together. This is Milan.”

Leão netted his first league goal since January, ending a streak of eight scoreless games on the trot.

“It’s an incredible feeling, even if I didn’t score today we played a very good game and I’m happy.”

The two teams face each other in back-to-back UCL meetings in mid-April, but Leão diverted attention to Milan’s next game.

“This match was important for the season, we want to achieve our goal which is to stay close to Napoli. The tilts in the Champions League will be different. Let’s think about the game against Empoli at home now.”

Finally, he reserved praise for Kvaratskhelia, with whom Leão swapped shirts after the game.

“I’m a big fan of him, I like what he does on the pitch. I think he is similar to me, he likes to take opponents on. He is having a great season.”

Leão and Milan face Empoli on April 7th at San Siro, before welcoming the Partenopei at the iconic stadium five days later.
