Rafael Leao has a budding career in music, and he’s about to release his second album. He spoke about it and more to Noisey Italia (via Goal).
“My father worked in the industry when he was young, and my uncle was a DJ. Music has always been present in my house, then I started writing songs during the quarantine. I had nothing to do, I trained at home, and created a mini studio. I started rehearsing it, and those close to me said it was something I should pursue. Rap is my favorite genre due to his message: keep chasing after things and never give up. Daniel Maldini and Alexis Saelemaekers are pumped about it, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic understands it the least.”
The star hasn’t forgotten his upbringing.
“I have a tattoo that says ‘OTF: Only the Family.’ I also have the zip code of the neighborhood where I grew up. My nickname is Way45, which is a reference to it. I used to play football in the streets with my friends, and we are still close. I wasn’t poor during my childhood, but my father had to overcome many difficulties to help me. We couldn’t afford expensive things. Now I can buy whatever I want and help my family since my parents don’t work.”
Leao has his eyes set on the biggest goals.
“When I started, I realized that I had to wake up, focus, and work hard to get to the top. I want to win many important things, be important to my club, and take home individual accolades as well. Champions League is my objective in football, while in music I want to elevate the name of my label as much as possible.”
