Leao Talks Extension, Legal Troubles, and Milan Brass

Rafael Leao unveiled his book on Tuesday night and discussed some of the topics included in it, as for instance his decision to sign a new contract with Milan after a seesawing negotiation that went on for months (via Mediaset).

“It took some time, but my thought was clear when I put pen to paper: it’s not just an economic pact, but also a love one. Everybody would like to play for this team. I wanted to stay to complete my growing process as a man and a footballer.”

“Winning the Scudetto showed me how nice it is to triumph as a group. My renewal wasn’t a back-and-forth for monetary matters. As many said, I never had any reservations about the technical direction of the team.”

Leao dished on the legal dispute with Sporting CP, which is still ongoing, but only Lille are involved at this point.

“As far as the Italian law is concerned, I’m finally freed of my debt. I have to thank Milan, which always stayed close to me in this trying time, especially Giorgio Furlani.”

Leao heaped praise on the CEO.

“He’s a great person, and we talk often. He always tries to speak to me in Portuguese. His presence and constant support help me on and off the pitch and to grow as a person. I must say the same thing about owner Gerry Cardinale: we chat every time he sees me. You can notice that he loves me and wants me to stay at Milan.”
