Rafael Leao has been shortlisted by PSG for the summer, when they might have to replace Kylian Mbappé. There’s a €175M release clause in his contract. Director Luis Campos, who worked for Lille in the past, is handling the deal, TeleFoot reports.
The Portuguese alluded to the chatter in an interview on La7’s TV Show ‘Che Tempo Che Fa’ (via Mediaset).
“I’ve never thought about leaving. I had some difficulties at the beginning. When you come here, it’s different from what you watch on television. Paolo Maldini helped me a lot as a man. He called before before joining. I couldn’t say no. He reprimanded me at times. He has a strong character and is demanding. I surely miss him.”
Leao looked back at their last game.
“This is football. We were unlucky and could have done better. We always want to win, and we’ll focus on Frosinone. I’ll take the next PK, even though Olivier Giroud is good and a true specialist. It happens to make mistakes. He’s key for us.”
Leao tackled the racist incident in Udine involving Mike Maignan.
“He was very nervous and didn’t want to play because it wasn’t the first time it happened to him. We all backed him. I’m personally sorry for every black player. We must fight it together on and off the pitch.”
Finally, Leao dished on Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
“He’s the same as always and didn’t change. He’s incredible from a mental standpoint. Milan did very well in hiring him.”
