Lecce Manager D’Aversa Previews Napoli Encounter

Juventus ended Lecce’s unbeaten start to the Serie A season last time out, as they emerged 1-0 winners at the Allianz Stadium to hand Roberto D’Aversa a reality check. The former Sampdoria and Parma manager is wary of the threat Napoli possess in their next match despite the Partenopei experiencing a start-stop first few games of the season.

In his pre-match press conference (via Tuttomercatoweb), D’Aversa previewed the Southern derby having just faced their first defeat of the season against Juventus.

“When you lose a match you can’t be happy, but it must be analyzed properly. We conceded just once with an aggressive attitude, but we didn’t bring home the result. We had an excellent defensive phase, but we could have done better in the final minutes.“

Napoli themselves ended a three-man winless streak last matchday, as they trounced Udinese 4-1 at home.

“If I have to list all the difficulties against Napoli, we would never finish. They are the Italian champions and have a complete team with capable and quality players. Victor Osimhen attacks the depth and is one of the best in Europe. On our part, there must be the will to put in a great performance. We cannot go onto the pitch with the idea to register a draw.”

Lecce have recorded three straight home wins in the league this season. They had four opening wins at the Stadio Comunale Via del Mare only in 1989/1990.
