Lecce Starlet High on Juventus Director Giuntoli’s Agenda

Patrick Dorgu turned 19 last week, and while he dreams of moving to the Premier League to play at Chelsea, he could take a step closer to his aspiration by starring at Juventus first. The Bianconeri, led by sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli, are reportedly trailing the Lecce fullback.

As per latest reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Tuttomercatoweb), Juventus are hot on the pursuit of Dorgu, who was unearthed by Lecce director Pantaleo Corvino in 2022 from Danish outfit Nordsjaelland.

The Denmark U21 international was brought in €200K, but Lecce are estimated to bag a handsome sum perhaps at the end of the season, with top clubs such as Barcelona, Manchester City, and Liverpool all keeping close tabs on the youngster. Morten Hjulmand is the club’s record departure yet, having signed him for €170K, before selling him to Sporting CP for €18M, but yet another Dane could make the list.

As per Danish journalist Michek Davidsen, there is little doubt why Juventus have expressed interest in Dorgu.

“A real surprise for us in Denmark. He took an unconventional path to Serie A and I believe that in 2024, should he continue like this, he will be able to aspire to a place with the Denmark national team. There are Joakim Maehle, Victor Kristiansen, Jens Stryger Larsen, who are not top-level choices, and I believe he can have his opportunities in the national team soon.”

Dorgu has made an instantaneous impact in his first year in Italy, playing a significant role in Lecce winning their first Primavera U19s league title in 19 years. He has 12 appearances for Lecce this campaign.
