Legendary Italian defender Fabio Cannavaro, who currently manages Chinese club Guangzhou, believes the Scudetto race is going to be tighter than last time this season as the three clubs presently on top of the table battle it out for bragging rights come May 2022.
He believes Napoli have a realistic chance of grabbing the Scudetto title, their first since 1989/90, with the help of a certain Napoli forward, who he thinks can ‘hurt opponents’ in the box.
Speaking to Tribal Football, the 2006 Ballon D’Or winner commented: “Napoli are solid, they can win the Scudetto. But beware of the two sides from Milan. Spalletti’s team look like a wall at times and have different solutions.”
Nigerian talent Osimhen was named Serie A’s September Player of the Month Osimhen, thanks to his fantastic goalscoring display for the Partenopei – with four goals across three league matches, against Udinese, Sampdoria (2) and Cagliari.
He said: “Osimhen was thought to be a crazy horse, but in the box he knows how to hurt the opponents.”
He further touted Juventus to bounce back from their poor start to the season after the loss of Cristiano Ronaldo.
“Never rule out Juventus, they know how to manage the difficult moments and will be able to return,” he explained.
Napoli currently sit on top of the table as the only undefeated team with a 100% win record, as opposed to Milan and Inter, who sit two and four points behind them respectively after 7 games played.
