Lippi Praises Milan and Napoli, Points Juventus Towards UCL

This Serie A season has begun on an ecstatic note, with Milan and Napoli steamrolling through opponents and remaining unbeaten on top of the standings so far. Inter too, had their momentum going, until Lazio came along after the international break to upset their undefeated league record.

Former World Cup winning tactician Marcelo Lippi believes that the three aforementioned teams are the main contenders for the Scudetto this season, pointing Juventus towards the Champions League trophy due to their brilliant start to the continental campaign.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Lippi said: “Milan and Napoli have had a fantastic start to the season, but they have to keep Inter in mind too, but I don’t know about Juventus, they might’ve considered the situation and decided to focus on the Champions League.

Lippi continued with the thought that Juventus would be content with whatever their position in Italy, given they can go all the way in Europe.

“If that is what they have done, I’m sure the Bianconeri would be more than happy to take seventh in Serie A as long as they won the Champions League trophy.”

The former manager also praised Luciano Spalletti for propelling Napoli towards the pedestal of Serie A, two years after being sacked by Inter.

“Spalletti had a paid vacation for two years. He seems calmer, more reflective, ready to dialogue with others, along with the usual competence. He hasn’t forgotten how to do the job,” finished Lippi.

Napoli and Milan share spoils at the top of league standings after twelve matchdays with 32 points, seven further than third-placed Inter.
