Liverpool and Atletico Madrid Tracking Torino Defender

Torino reinvested part of the money they got from Juventus for Gleison Bremer to acquire Perr Schuurs, and the decision has paid off. The Dutchman quickly adapted to Serie A and became the leader of their defense.

According to TuttoSport, the youngster, who came in with a strong pedigree, continues to be monitored by top sides. Liverpool were already keen on him last summer, and Atletico Madrid are eyeing him too. The Granata paid €9M to sign him from Ajax, plus €2.3M add-ons and 15 percent of a future sale. His valuation will continue rising.

Torino will inevitably receive offers for Schuurs in 2023. The coaching staff hopes the management will hold onto the linchpins to keep building rather than starting from scratch before every campaign.

On top of Bremer, the Granata also lost Andrea Belotti, Josip Brekalo, Rolando Mandragora, Dennis Praet, and Tommaso Pobega for various reasons compared to last season’s squad. They face further uncertainty since Nikola Vlasic joined on loan with option to buy, and it’ll take €15M to buy him out. The contract of Sasa Lukic expires in 2024 and, following a rift with the brass, he demands a release clause to re-up.

Our Take on Schuurs

The 22-year-old combines a massive physique with great acumen and decent agility, and he’s surely destined to go places. On the other hand, if Torino continue to overhaul their roster and have to replace multiple cornerstones all the time, they will probably have to find a new gaffer in the near future as well. The center-back has a long-term contract, and there’s no reason why he should leave in the next couple of years, if not the obvious monetary ones.
