Liverpool shotstopper Alisson has opened up on his move to Roma from Brazilian club Internacional back in 2016. On the back of Liverpool’s emphatic 2-0 victory over Champions League Round of 16 rivals Inter at Giuseppe Meazza, Alisson revealed that it was infact the Reds’ opponents of the evening who were close to luring him when he was still a teenager.
Alisson made his senior debut aged 20 with boyhood club Internacional, but it was the Nerazzurri who were the first team from Europe to set sights on the budding goalkeeper.
Speaking to the press in his post-match press conference (via Calciomercato), the Brazilian revealed that the initial links with Inter later faded and he is delighted to have taken the path to capital giants Roma.
“Was I close to Inter? Yes, that’s right, I was also talking to my agent about it tonight. I was 17, but it eventually faded. In any case, I am delighted with the path I have made – to go to Rome!”, he revealed.
Liverpool paid Roma €72.5m to secure the services of the highly-rated Brazilian, who has now etched himself as one of the best in the world due to consistent performances at the top level.
