Liverpool Star Pipe Dream for Juventus Despite Inquiry

Juventus have actively begun searching for a new star after the talks with Paulo Dybala broke off, and they gathered some intel on Mohamed Salah. The future of the Liverpool attacker is rather murky as he is under contract only until 2023. The extension talks have not progressed much in the last months.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Bianconeri inquired about his availability, but he is a very far-fetched target. He may indeed switch teams either in the summer or in 2023. However, his wages might ultimately be too burdensome for the finances of the Old Lady.

Juventus would be able to save on some taxes on Salah, but his net salary, €12M per year, is way above any of their current players. Moreover, he is asking to increase it to re-up to Liverpool and would do the same if he pushed his way out. The Bianconeri refused to give Dybala €8M, plus €2M add-ons. Star newcomer Dusan Vlahovic is getting €7M.

The Egyptian ace would prioritize a different league if he did leave Liverpool, Sport informs. Barcelona and PSG are more viable destinations for his future. He is more likely to bolt as a free agent after the next season than in the upcoming window considering the recent trend among superstars. In any case, the fact that Juventus reached out to Salah indicates that they have grand plans for the summer. They wish to resume competing for the Scudetto and fare better in Champions League in 2022-2023, Gazzetta adds.
