Lloris was Looking to Join Roma in the Summer

Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris was reportedly keen on signing for Roma during the summer transfer window.

According to Calciomercato.comthe Frenchman considered joining the Giallorossi before having second thoughts. This led Roma to sign Rui Patricio from Wolves. Lloris is now on the brink of signing a new contract with Tottenham.

The Frenchman still has some left in his tank and given his experience, he would have been a good addition to Roma’s squad. However, Patricio has fared alright with Roma so far, keeping six clean sheets, the same number as Lloris in the Premier League this season.

The 33-year-old will be hoping to do well for Roma in forthcoming years as they aim on clinching a top-four spot in the Serie A this season. Jose Mourinho’s side are currently seventh in the league table with 25 points so far, nine behind fourth-placed Atalanta.

Following Roma’s Conference League fixture against CSKA Sofia, they face Spezia on Monday.
