Sassuolo are one step closer to letting go of their star midfielder in Manuel Locatelli to Juventus but in return had expected the Bianconeri to send 20-year-old talent Filippo Ranocchia the other way. However according to reports from Calciomercato, the Neroverdi have seen their move for Ranocchia rejected as the Bianconeri wish to make him part of the first team squad on a regular basis in the near future.

Ranocchia rose through the Juventus youth ranks, displaying commendable performances last season. He is expected to be part of the club’s first Serie A 2021/22 clash against Udinese at the Stadio Friuli.

Sassuolo wished for Ranocchia to be part of an exchange-type deal with Juventus. It is a move that may still materialize as the youngster is quite behind in the pecking order and a move away from the Old Lady might prove to be fruitful for his development.

On another note, La Gazzetta dello Sport correspondent Alfredo Pedulia reported that a loan deal with a €35m obligation to buy clause is expected to be accepted by Sassuolo for Locatelli, Juventus will be given the chance to spread €7m payments over the period of five years, as reported.
