Locatelli’s Juventus Arrival Casts Doubts Over Players’ Futures

The arrival of Sassuolo star Manuel Locatelli in Turin has casted doubts over the future of another budding star in American international Weston McKennie – according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

McKennie, who impressed for the Bianconeri last season after arriving from Schalke 04, is not short of suitors with multiple offers from abroad. However, the Old Lady considers McKennie as a valuable player who cannot be parted with. Having said so, Juventus are apparently ready to hear offers from clubs that want the 23-year-old attacker. McKennie was turned into a permanent transfer after an initial loan deal and his contract in Turin expires in 2025.

The return of Miralem Pjanic to Juventus is also on the books. As reported by Mundo Deportivo earlier, Pjanic’s transfer is being shortsighted by a fee of €7m. His transfermarkt value stands at €20m and Barcelona are eager to get him off the club’s wage receipts.

Juventus, who themselves are cash-crunched this transfer window and even more so after the transfer of Locatelli, will be able to accommodate Pjanic only after sealing the departure of at least one of their players – of which Welshman Aaron Ramsey seems the likeliest to leave.
