Luis Alberto Agent and Lazio Owner Lotito Trade Barbs

Miguel Alfaro, the representative of Luis Alberto, stated that his client was unhappy with how things were going at Lazio. The Spaniard has had a secondary role thus far, both for tactical reasons and because he hasn’t clicked with coach Maurizio Sarri. He talked to Corriere dello Sport (via Quotidiano).

“His situation will be handled based on what is happening. Everything is respectable, and, rightly, it’s up to the coach to choose. But my client also has to be respected since he’s already part of the history of the club. He won with them, he gave them a lot and continues to do it. He’s not comfortable right now. Cycles can end. The club and I want to find a way not to prevent this situation from continuining. He’s eager to prove that he has still many years ahead of him.”

Lazio president Claudio Lotito quickly responded to Il Messaggero (via Yahoo) and spilled the beans on the interest around Luis Alberto.

“If he wants to leave, he should bring a team armed with cash. I have no intention of loaning him out in January. I’ve received no request from Atletico Madrid. Things haven’t changed since the summer, when Sevilla maybe misled him. I don’t play games. He’s strong and an added value for us, and we can still reach a compromise. He has to accept the decisions of the coach, while Sarri could be more understanding, because every player has a different character. They can’t all have Pedro’s mentality.”

The owner explained their winter strategy.

“Our squad is complete without departures. We can’t sign somebody just because and without valorizing what we already have. Some evaluations we made in the past have been proven right.”
