Luis Alberto Believes Lazio Deserved More Against Milan

A season of disappointments for Lazio fans hit a new low on Saturday as Milan put Maurizio Sarri’s underachieving squad to the sword. Second-half goals from Christian Pulisic and Noah Okafor fired Rossoneri to a 2-0 win at San Siro, leaving the Stadio Olimpico outfit stranded in the bottom half of the Serie A table.

Despite their fourth defeat in seven league games this season, Lazio playmaker Luis Alberto believes his side deserved more than they got in Lombardy. The skilled midfielder failed to impress at San Siro. His uneventful showing led to another underwhelming result for Biancocelesti.

However, Alberto feels Lazio ‘played well’ against Milan, insisting they didn’t deserve to return home empty-handed.

I think the team played a good match, it’s a shame about the result. I think we deserved much more,” he told DAZN, as relayed by La Lazio Siamo Noi.

The Lazio star also heaped praise on Milan talisman Rafael Leao.

We know that they have that player on the left who can break the deadlock at any time. We suffered especially with the first goal, because we didn’t start very well.

With the pressure piling on Sarri, the upcoming Champions League game against Celtic could be a welcoming distraction for Lazio. Biancocelesti must turn the corner quickly, as they already lag well behind the top-four pace in Serie A.

Since Ciro Immobile is not 100% ready, Alberto may have to take responsibility to carry Lazio through these tumultuous times.
