Luis Alberto Draws Comparison Between Sarri and Inzaghi, Believes Lazio Will ‘Have Fun’

Lazio’s versatile Spanish midfielder Luis Alberto has been a mainstay in the Biancocelesti setup since 2017/18 after enduring a torrid first year, the season before, in the Italian capital. The 29-year-old is now an integral part of Maurizio Sarri’s outfit, appearing non-stop throughout their current campaign.

Speaking to Italian magazine Rivista Undici (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the Spanish ace bestowed words of admiration and praise for his current coach and his ex-coach, Simone Inzaghi, against who he will be playing on the next Serie A match day.

He drew comparisons between the two Italian tacticians, saying:”Inzaghi was a friend, a father to all of us. Sarri, on the other hand, has a different, stronger personality. He has a wonderful game idea, we saw it in Naples or Empoli.”

The Spaniard believes that the Biancocelesti will surely ‘have fun’ this season under Sarri.

“Lazio will have fun in two or three months. much. I do not know if we win something, but surely it will be fun. And for the opponents will be very complicated: our quality is very similar to that of his Napoli. Indeed, in some respects I can say that we are even better,” he said

He further spoke about his time with Liverpool during the 2013/14 season.

He said: “When a team like that calls you, you can’t say no. In a short time I had gone from Spanish second tier to a team that could win the Premier League, with players like Gerrard, Suarez or Sturridge. I had switched the football completely different, I understood that beyond the technical quality I would have to raise the level of many other things.”

Lazio currently sit sixth in the league table on 11 points, ten points behind leaders Napoli, who remain the only club with a 100% win record.

They meet Inzaghi’s Inter at the Stadio Olimpico when the season resumes on October 16 after the international break.
