Luka Jovic Future in Limbo as Milan Wait for Paulo Fonseca

Luka Jovic’s future at Milan hangs by a thread as the Serbia international waits for the club’s decision with bated breath. Italian journalist Daniele Longo claims the next few days could be decisive for the ex-Fiorentina man’s career at San Siro.
Milan signed Jovic on a season-long deal last summer after failing to land a fallback option for Olivier Giroud. After a relatively slow start to life in Lombardy, the 26-year-old hit the ground running midway through the campaign, scoring several crucial goals in Serie A and Coppa Italia.
However, another dip in form towards the end of the season has left Jovic’s future in limbo. Milan have yet to decide as they scour the market for potential replacements. While vying for Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee, they work on acquiring a decent backup striker.
Chelsea outcast Armando Broja and Cercle Brugge heavy hitter Kevin Denkey are on the club’s shortlist. Milan met with the Blues representatives a few days ago to discuss the Albanian’s signing, while the latter was on their radar last summer.
But it’s still possible that they’d stick with Jovic. It will depend on Paulo Fonseca’s preference. The ex-Lille manager will assume the coaching reins on Wednesday. And he’ll probably have the final say on the former Real Madrid flop, who’s preparing for Euro 2024.
If Milan opt to cut Jovic loose, Broja would be the most realistic option, considering his affordable price tag. That’s not to mention Chelsea might be willing to negotiate a loan deal.
