Inter unveiled their new jersey in the Gae Aulenti square in Milan on Thursday, and a few of their stars took the floor to rally the fans, with Romelu Lukaku being the most vocal one (via Corriere della Sera).
“The upcoming season will be the biggest challenge of my career. I made a mistake by leaving. Nicolò Barella had told me so. The Nerazzurri gave me the opportunity to reach the highest level of my career. I am happy to be back in these colors. We hope to be able to keep improving as we did in recent years. We must stay the course if we want to reach our goals.”
Lautaro Martinez further confirmed his future, as he has never really been available in this transfer market window.
“I am happy for staying at Inter. I want to raise the bar each day. That is what I have always done since I was a kid. It is the right attitude in my mind. It will surely be a demanding campaign, but we are ready to return to winning ways.”
Barella voiced his passion for football in general.
“It is a sport that allows you to create a connection with many people and cultures around the world. The struggle make you grow the most. It has a good and a bad side, and you have to try taking whatever you can in the short time at your disposal to do it.”
Lukaku recalled the worst loss during his time with Inter.
“It was the Europa League final against Sevilla in 2020. It was very painful for our squad. However, it helped us do better then following season, leading to the Scudetto. The defeat against Milan contributed to that as well that year. We were able to overtake them later on, though.”
