Lukaku Backs Inter Hierarchy to Sign Former Chelsea Teammate

Chelsea academy graduate Trevoh Chalobah remains the primary target for the Inter defense, along with Borussia Dortmund outcast Manuel Akanji. Links with the former have accelerated in the past couple of days, with the Englishman himself signaling the green light for a transfer to the Nerazzurri.

According to Tuttosport (via FCInterNews), the youngster has the backing of his ex-teammate to arrive in Milan. Romelu Lukaku has reportedly put in a good word to the management regarding the youngster’s attributes and abilities in the first third – citing him as a worthwhile investment.

The Belgian star re-joined Inter on a one-year loan deal from Chelsea and could very well help the former Scudetto champions materialize a similar move for the 22-year-old.

The Blues are in the hunt for Leicester City center-back Wesley Fofana, with their pursuit handed a big boost recently as he was asked to be left out of the Foxes’ upcoming weekend clash against Southampton. Keeping that in mind, Chelsea are willing to let Chalobah join Inter.

The Blues have already dealt with the Nerazzurri on multiple occasions this window, first with Lukaku’s transfer, before onboarding Italy starlet Cesare Casadei on a permanent move. The defender could become the third deal between the two parties.
