Manchester City Reportedly Interested in Serie A Wingback

Pep Guardiola loves high-flying fullbacks. The Spanish genius has been slowly but surely developing Joao Cancelo into one of the best in the game. Nonetheless, the Manchester City manager would reportedly love to add yet another Serie A star to his impressive flank department, and that would be Robin Gosens.

According to The Sun (via Calciomercato), Guardiola wants sign the Atalanta wingback, and would be willing to offer the services of Oleksandr Zinchenko in return.

The German international has been an important member of Gian Piero Gasperini’s team for the last four seasons, and he seems to be getting better and better with every passing season. During the current campaign, the 26-year-old has so far managed to score 9 goals in his 21 appearances, which is an incredible tally for a wingback.

Therefore, it is no surprise to see some of the biggest clubs in the world – like Manchester City – keeping close tabs on Gosens.

Whilst Gasperini would hate to lose the German’s services on the left flank, the addition of Zinchenko could help in relieving some of the pain.

The Ukrainian international has been with the Citizens since 2017, but usually finds himself in and out of the starting eleven. However, the 24-year-old could surely take his game to the next level if given more playing time – especially under the tutelage of Gasperini.

Similarly to most of La Dea’s stars, Gosens will eventually leave Bergamo for a bigger destination sooner or later, so will Atalanta cash in on the Man City target whilst the hype surrounding him is at its peak?
