Manchester United on the Precipice of Adding Zirkzee

It appears to be just a matter of time until Joshua Zirkzee seals his Manchester United move. The formalities could take a while as the player was called up late for Euro 2024. He hasn’t logged many minutes so far.

According to Fabrizio Romano (via SOSFanta), the Red Devils have cleared the final hurdle. They have deemed that the €15M commissions asked by his agent are fair considering the overall cost.

Manchester United have struck a deal with Zirkzee on personal terms. They have relayed to Bologna that they would activate his €40M release clause. However, the two clubs could do the deal in a different fashion. The Red Devils might shell out more money but have a more favorable and long-term payment structure.

His former team Bayern Munich will receive nearly half of the fee. They have the right to match any offer. Though, the striker doesn’t want to go back to Bavaria, even though Vincent Kompany previously coached him at Anderlecht.

If everything proceeds as expected, the Red Devils will poach a top Serie A striker for the second summer in a row after snapping up Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic confirmed Milan were no longer in the running, stating the Bologna ace was “the past” in a presser (via Mediaset).

Our Take on Manchester United and Zirkzee

Milan got stuck on the commissions, which are indeed hefty, but he would never have had a manageable release clause if it weren’t for his agent. The total figure isn’t exorbitant considering nowadays’ price tags.
