Manchester United ‘Ready to Invest’ in Versatile Roma Talent

Manchester United have reportedly made first contact with Roma enquiring the stance of 22-year-old forward Nicolo Zaniolo. The youngster has been followed closely by Italian giants Milan and Juventus in a bid for a summer transfer, but it is the Red Devils who are ahead of the Serie A duo for the highly-rated trequartista.

The Fiorentina youth product can be lured away from the Giallorossi for a set price around the €50m mark – an offer that will be hard for Roma and sporting director Tiago Pinto to turn down, given the club’s precarious financial position.

Zaniolo’s contract at Stadio Olimpico expires in the summer of 2024 and no offers have come forward from the club management regarding a contract extension deal.

According to Italian journalist Enrico Camelio, who spoke to Calciomercato.it (via JuveLive), Zaniolo’s agent Claudio Vigorelli has been approached by Juventus and Milan regarding information but it is Manchester United actually making moves.

“Vigorelli is in Milan, he hasn’t met Roma. Juve asked for information, but did not speak to Roma. Milan also asked for information. If €50m arrive, Rome sells him without doubt. The only one that has actually moved is Manchester United, the others have only asked for information,” he said.

Manchester United failed to lure any players during the January transfer window but will be keen to know their chances of onboarding the versatile attacking midfielder.

Zaniolo has appeared 28 times for Roma this season under Jose Mourinho, scoring 4 times and providing 5 assists in the process.
